John, I heard you play on a tune BGO played last night. It was a slow bluesy 9/4, I don't know the name of it but it sounded great. Were you playing the swish referred to on your instruments page on that recording? If not what was the china sounding cymbal? I loved the sound of that cymbal. I'm also looking for a 22" ride ala old K's any suggestions? I'll look into the ride your using. Thanks for your info!

Dear Mr Riley I've bought the italian version of The Art Of Bop Drumming: I've been so impressed that I've immediately ordered the others books through amazon. On your fantastic DVD you're using a snare with a kind of additional rim/pad on top. Is this a practice pad that can be applied to all snare? how to get so one? Last but not least, do you plans to have concert or clinics in Switzerland or Italy? Many thanks for your generous tipps! Gianni

Hello John, When you transcribe solos or get ideas from recordings how do you determine the stickings that they used. You are very specific about stickings in your DVD chapter on creativity. Do you assume sticlings from experience? Thanks.

hello, I was reading your introduction in joe morello's master studies 2 and reading about your experiences with morello and you mentioned that joe gave you excersises from stick control and precise tempos in which to practice them and i was wondering whether you can remember what the exercises were and the tempos were and if there is any other vital information I should be considering when practicing these exercises, I own your book "bop drumming" and I appreciate every bit of help and information in it and I'd like to say from one drummer to another drummer, that your work has influenced me very greatly and I appreciate all the help and dedication you have for helping the drumming community, one more thing i have to ask, what was it like playing with miles?
