Hi. My name is Richard Shafer. I'm a percussion major at the University of Oklahoma. I actually met you briefly when you were down here for the percussion festival last spring. I'm drumming with several ensembles at school and with and independent quartet. I will be in NYC this coming week (of the 19th) with the marching band for the Macy's Parade, and am interested in a lesson. Please let me know your policies on this and if this would be possible. Thanks so much.

Hi John, I will be in New York November 9-13 and wondered if you will be there and if you ever book private lessons. Your books have been an inspiration to me and I can't think of a better way to spend an hour in NYC than to learn from the master!

I have been working through The Jazz Drummer's Workshop lately and I have been having problems with the second-line applications. I have played the examples over and over, but the groove isn't there. Do you have any tips for keeping it "in the pocket" and "in the cracks"? Do you recommend any second-line CDs?

Hi John, Thanks so much for your up tempo ride cymbal playing discussion on the Zildjian website. Very insightful! When can we expect an instructional DVD? :)
