Sorry, I should have taken into consideration the exercise that follows - wouldn't make much sense to get that with the foot! How do you interpret the 'x' on the top space? Thank you -

John - I am inspired using your Beyond Bop Drumming so much! This is so specific, but on page 11, the 8th exercise (third from bottom), is the left hand to play the closed hi hat, or close it with the foot (which makes more sense to me) - 'x' on top space - thank you!

Hi John, I live in upstate N.Y. in Ulster county,about two hours north of N.Y.C.Do you give private lessons at your house or studio?I'm 63 and have been playing for many years mainly R&B,pop,Motown,shows,and the usual club dates.I need to get better with my jazz playing.Thanks for any info you can send me. Please re-release your CDs on MP3. Easier access on smart phones and notebook pads. I'm sure they'll sell.

Hey John. I'm working out of your post bop book, reading and listening to your playing. The more I hear your main ride cymbal on the speed bumps cut, the more it gets under my skin. I suspect it is a vintage Z with rivets, but I'd like to know a little more about it. Is it vintage or a recent issue? What's the age, model, diameter and weight? Anything else? Thanks Fred
