Hello John, im practice Art Of Bop Druminng now and i wonder how i should take knowledge from the book into real jazz playing with the band. I just dont know what and how to do in band, especially how to communicate with soloist. I know that i should listen to a lot of jazz music which i do, but i cant really get what drummers which i listen to are doing in the moment and why they are doing it.. Id be happy if you give me some advice. |

Hello John,
Just a note to say I've been enjoying your Bop Drumming book. I've been playing 40+ years and needed a new challenge. Your book has given me that. I teach as well and am using your book with my students. Great job on the book. I only wish you would have recorded all of the material in the comping sections. It is fun to play along with you on those exercises. Thanks again - Joe |

Dear John,
I have the pleasure to work on your medias, I have the art of Bop Drumming and the master drummer video.
In your book, I am currectly practising the samba pattern pp. 59 and I like to know if you would advise to play a slight accent on the bass drum on the 2nd beat of each measure to have a better authentic groove ?
Many thanks in advance for your help
John |
